It's Oh So Quiet...

I have worked on a couple large abstract paintings pretty much every night for the last two weeks. I am consumed with them- I obsess about them night & day. I’ve had plenty of spare time as I’ve not heard a peep out of anyone lately. As though everyone just up & left. Because I am alone most of the time I am acutely aware that, well… it seems pretty dead out there lately. Seriously, I think the whole Wall St./recession/down economy thing has somehow affected everyone. Either that or I ne… Continue

Sold another painting on Friday...

Sold another painting on Friday! Yay! Having some good fortune with that lately, which is ironic due to the state of the economy lately ??? Puzzled, but grateful :) See my artist's journal at shawart.com for the details...
Anyone alive out there?

How disappointing...

How disappointing... I was really excited when I found The Circuit- St Louis' OWN "MySpace"! ... but it's kinda lame. No one really talks, or wants to be friends. Everyone seems kind of "on guard"- that or resigned to their own "clique". It's true- I'm no scenester. I'm often too busy working the dayjob, playing with my band, or actually too busy with painting to make it out to shows or get out & be seen. I thought this would be a lot more fun or enlightening- instead, nothing really happens… Continue

Yeah, I know about the money thing. I always wonder if the entry fee is worth the bother on art shows too. I have sold photography out of Art St. Louis and a couple of Art Dimentia exhibits as well as the Soulard Art Market, but by the time you pay the entry fee, drive there, is it really worth it? At least Soulard Art Market doesn't take a commission on art sold.

Are you really from Cuba? I've always wanted to go there. Almost went last year through Jamaica, but I had my kids with me.
