I'm an attorney and founding member of EASON & VAN LEUNEN, LLC, in St. Louis, Missouri.

I grew up in Warson Woods, Missouri. I attended the Warson Woods Elementary School--Duran Duran and "Jack and Diane." "Footloose" was on the Top 40 charts, while I attended Hixson Junior High School. Guns & Roses and "Orange Crush" were still fresh as I played football for the mighty-mighty Statesmen of Webster Groves High School.

I was fortunate enough to be accepted by the Virginia Military Institute ("VMI"). My major, at first, was Biology. I remember being handed a fetal shark dissection manual for my first biology lab assignment. The manual was beautifully illustrated with nice bright colors. Each shark organ was clearly drawn and delightfully designated. I studied this manual. I thought, "this is the power of mankind--to take the unknown and make it knowable."

I remember cutting open that shark...I couldn't tell one organ from another. The mess in front of me looked like Grey Poupon stirred into a shallow plate of pasta.

Shortly thereafter, I walked to my academic advisor's office, and changed my major to English. I never looked back.

After VMI, I entered the Master of Arts program in English at the University of Missouri-Columbia ("Mizzou"). I taught several Exposition and Argumentation classes at Mizzou, most of which were English as a Second Language ("ESL"). I loved it.

I met my wife, Stephanie, at Mizzou. We have been married for twelve years. We have two sons, Paul (8) and Etienne (5), and a newborn daughter, Alice.

After Mizzou, I taught for five years (1998-2002) at St. Charles Community College, which is affectionately called "skuh" by everyone who graces its halls. At the same time, I enrolled in the night-program at Saint Louis University School of Law.

In September of 2003, I became a member of the Missouri Bar.

Steve Ewing: New CD Release on July 25!

I'm not here to kid anyone. I don't really know Steve Ewing very well. We went to Webster Groves High School ("Webster") at the same time.

My good friend, my best friend, in high school (we're talkin' 1988 or 1989) was Eric McBain. He was big into the Audio Visual classes at Webster. This must be how Eric knew Steve. Eric told me one day that he was going to have a band play at his birthday party. "Ho hum," I thought.

On Eric's birthday, the band set up in Eric's backyard drive… Continue

Trivia Night Call for Sponsors and Donors: South City Deanery Parish School of Religion

Dear Lo-Fi Friends and others who may be reading this:

I sit on the Board of the South City Deanery Parish School of Religion ("SCDPSR"). PSR is what used to be Sunday School for the Catholic public school kids. Whatever you may think of Catholicism, Catholics and the Catholic Church is fine. I'm not writing this blog to start a discussion in that regard.
